The Agaricus blazei Murill mushroom (AbM), also known as Agaricus brasiliensis due to its origin in Brazilian rain forest, is an edible mushroom of the Basidiomycetes family, which also comprises other medicinal mushrooms. The AbM has been used in alternative medicine and also as a health food worldwide. Since it has been found to possess immunomodulatory properties, its biological and health-related effects, as well as its isolated active ingredients as beta-glucans, have been examined by scientists around the world. The AbM has traditionally been used for the prevention of cancer. However, its anti-tumorgenics effects have sparked the interest of scientists who decided to put AbM through rigorous scientific scrutiny. ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: beta-glucans, ergosterol, glucomannan, mannogalactoglucan, proteoglucans and riboglucans.
PROPERTIES: AbM contains large quantities of polysaccharide compounds like β (beta)-1,6-glucan alpha-1,6- and alpha-1,4-glucan, glucomannan , β -1,3-glucan and more. Betaglucans are quite diverse in size and structure and thus possess varied immunomodulating abilities. They boost the immune system by activating white blood cells, including “immune directors”, and thus enhancing its action against cancer and infection. These immune-enhancing effects on the activity of macrophages and natural killer (NK) cells, lead to the destruction of microbes and tumor cells much more efficiently, not only through innate immunity, but also adaptive immunity by the activation of dendritic cells, and in consequence, engagement of specialized lymphocytes. It has been scientifically proven that some forms of beta-glucans can play an important role in human health. They are able to help the immune system because they represent a common “danger signature” of health-threatening mushrooms and fungi. Since harmless edible mushrooms such as AbM contain high amounts of these beta-glucan danger signals, this can be exploited by us to enhance the alertness of our immune system for general prevention of disease and as an additive treatment to help combat existing disease.
PREPARATION: Infusion: Boil the water in a non-reactive pot (glass, stainless steel, cast iron, or enamel-do NOT use copper or aluminum because harmful metals from these materials can contaminate water) and remove from burner. Use 1 tablespoon of powder mushroom or 1/2 cup of dry mushroom to 2 cup of water, cover, and waiting for at least 30 minutes. Filter and drink it in small amounts throughout the day - 3 to 4 cups total. Before to drink, add some lemon drops and honey. Keep refrigerated. Obs: Removed mushrooms still can be consumed in soup or salad or any suitable cooking. It will still contain good nutrients that whole family can enjoy.
